Internship

Aims of Internships

Each year of the Master's Program is concluded with an academic work placement conducted in a validated host partner. The general aim of this academic work placement is familiarisation with various aspects of scientific research by means of the student’s own research project.

Research Project Placements

Students are placed in universities, research institutes, NGOs or international organisations working in South East Asia. During the placement period, students undertake a major research project consisting of data gathering and analysis, under the direction of recognised researchers or university faculty members.

Traineeship Placements

Core members and partners of the GREASE network, including partner universities, provide traineeship positions in a One Health perspective. During the first year of the Master's programme, a training period of a minimum of 3 months is required. M1 students have to write a report on their internship, based on their placement experience and the methodological modules.

Completion of the Internship

Validation of the internship will be compulsory for the first year graduation. The research project of the second year lasts a minimum of 6 months and ends with a thesis by which students have to demonstrate their professionalism in synthesising their research results in a theoretically and methodologically sound way.

This work is submitted as a dissertation and defended in front of an academic jury. Theses are also published and disseminated to the corresponding scientific, public or private organisations. The InterRisk degree requires the completion of a MSc thesis and the presentation of research results at a scientific conference with proceedings.
