4th One Health Course- Paris, April 2016

Emerging infectious diseases are due to microorganisms residing in animal reservoirs and having epidemic or epizootic potential when transmitted to humans or livestock. Transmission occurs either directly or through arthropod vectors. Emergence of new pathogens is linked to ecological and environmental conditions depending on the impact of human activities on ecosystems (intensive agriculture, urbanization, deforestation, global trade, travels, climate change). The 4th One Health course will provide an overview of different disciplines contributing to the One Health concept and will point to strategies to detect, identify and control pathogens during outbreaks.
