Fourth LACANET One Health Project’s Annual Planning meeting in Luang Prabang, Lao P.D.R.

On the 10th and 11th July 2017, all LACANET One Health Project’s members met in Luang Prabang, Lao P.D.R., to share and discuss about project’s achievements to date, challenges some activities might be facing on the long term, and identify potential solutions to ensure that the four-year generous EU funding leaves behind a lasting endeavour that will go far beyond 2018. Successes identified included improved capacities in Cambodia and Laos, fruitful field and laboratory studies that will lead towards numerous potential scientific publications, and the unprecedented establishment of operational wildlife disease surveillance networks in both countries. While all goals set prior to intervention have now been reached, concerns are now turned towards local authorities to take ownership of the project and ensure its continuity even in the absence of external funding. The next and final LACANET One Health Annual Planning Meeting will take place in Phnom Penh on the 4th December 2017.
