Inception meeting between 4 Ministries and Provincial officers from Health, Agriculture and Environment sectors in Laos

A cross-sectorial workshop has been held in Vientiane on 25th January involving officials from 4 Ministries and from the 3 Provinces where ComAcross is operating. It has been the opportunity to ensure that the objectives of the project and of the case study “Parasitic Foodborne Zoonotic Diseases in Southern Laos” are well understood and perceived as relevant for all the participants. Presentation about ComAcross project (by Dr Aurelie Binot), the PFZD case study’s implementation (by Dr Vannaphone Putthana) and about the “Lawa model” (Integrated approach and implementation for the liver fluke prevention and control in North East of Thailand, by Dr Banchob Sripa) have been followed by an opened discussion on cross-sectoral collaboration efforts to be achieved by national, provincial and local stakeholders. Next activities will involve setting-up cross-sectorial platforms (including an advisory steering committee) at different levels to improve the management of PFZD.
